Pinterest is a photo-sharing social networking site that describes itself as a “virtual pinboard” that allows members to organize and share images and video of the things that they love. Their About Page says in part:
Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes. Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.
Pinterest members organize and display collections of images by “pinning” them to pages or “pinboards” that they create. Once users create boards and pin images, other users can then “repin” them and share those images on their boards as well.
Launched in March of 2010, Pinterest caught on astoundingly quickly, attracting more than 10,000 users in its first nine months. In 2011, Time magazine included Pinterest on its list of the 50 best websites of the year. Pinterest is now the third largest social network behind Facebook and Twitter.
Pinterest users are primarily women. Popular categories are food and drink, clothing and jewelry, arts and crafts, home decorating, hobbies and events, and various “do it yourself” themes.
For example, active Pinterest member Cheryl Robbins has an obvious eye for and appreciation of all things unique, creative and/or beautiful, with 3730 pins on 53 boards including home decor, artistry, paper crafts, gardens, dream houses, jewelery, vintage items, eclectic collections, and even 36 pins of the letter “C” – every one of them worth viewing.
Cheryl is an obvious arts and crafts enthusiast, and has 119 pins on her Crafts Made With Paper board alone. This collection show you how to make crafts out of paper including wreathes, garlands and mantel pieces for all occasions, angel wings, ornaments, ruffled ribbon, bookmarks, gift boxes, treat bags, shelf edging, paper flowers, specialty paper designs and techniques. Cheryl’s pinboard of attractive but affordable crafts made with paper also includes invitations, notebooks, stationery, book covers, and some very cool specialty paper.
And of course, what better paper to make waterproof, long lasting, tear resistant, grease resistant, fire resistant paper crafts from than environmentally friendly tree-free Stone Paper®? Stone Paper® also has an attractive natural white colour and soft, silky feel.
Browse Crafts Made with Paper for both enjoyment and inspiration. Good luck deciding which paper craft you want to create first!
